Overview of Kobe City

Kobe City, founded in 1889, is an ordinance-designated city with an area of approximately 557 square kilometers. The Port of Kobe, which represents the city, was opened in 1868 and has become one of the world's leading ports for international trade. Kobe Airport opened in 2006. Kobe can be accessed by a variety of means, including Shinkansen, airplanes, and even cruise ships. The Rokko mountain range, which runs from the east of the city to the west, has become a mecca for outdoor sports and is loved by many enthusiasts. On the north side of the Rokko mountains is Arima Onsen, one of the three most famous hot spring bath resorts in Japan, as well as shrines and temples with great historical value, and nature-rich mountain town landscapes. On the south side of the city, a streetscape that boasts a port town atmosphere of a port town has taken shape, and there is also an area called Kyu-Kyoryuchi, which is lined with historical buildings, making Kobe a city where you can enjoy expressions of both the old and the new.
